Story-Telling Gala for Primary School 2022-2023
Story-telling Gala for Primary Schools gives participants a chance to revisit the classic and renowned fairy tales. The gala serves as a platform for participants to use English to act out the interesting stories in a genuine and engaged way. Participants are offered the chance to learn story-telling and presentation skills. Due to pandemic, the event will be held on-line, and an on-site Winners’ Showcase cum Prize Presentation will be arranged.

Objectives
To enhance participants’ confidence in using English.
To give participants an opportunity to use English in a lively and authentic manner.
To improve participants’ listening and speaking skills.
To foster participants’ interest in reading and writing in English.

All Primary students (P1 to P6)

A. Solo (1 participant per team) / Duo (2 participants per team)
B. Radio Drama (3 - 6 participants per team)
Fee
Category A: $200 per entry
Category B: $300 per entry
(Each school can submit more than one entry. Application fee is non-refundable.)

Each submEach submission of the Google form can only be used to submit related information and the video for ONE entry.
Participants may use any video recording equipment (including mobile phones) for video recording
The whole process must be shot with a fixed lens, a wide-angle lens is preferred.
The video must be "one shot to the end" without any editing.
It is strictly forbidden to add light effects when recording, or play the video as the background.
Videos should have mainly performing students’ voices, and musical instruments can be used during recording. Audio editing for the videos is strictly forbidden.
Though recital is preferred, performing students may hold a script.
When shooting, if necessary, performing students may use microphones to assist in radio reception, wired or wireless.
Performing students may wear a mask, though we encourage them to perform without masks.
At any rate, adjudicators will judge mainly on the voices, and facial expressions and body movement will be taken into account. Costume and props will impress the judges.
We accept MOV, MP4, AVI, WMV, FLV formats (common mobile phone or camcorder format)
Time limitation for each submission: Category A: 5 minutes; Category B: 8 minutes
Resolution: Up to 1080p (1920 x 1080), and the maximum capacity for a video record is 1G.
Period of submission: Mar 13-31, 2023
Late submission will not be accepted.

(Original work is also welcome. Participants who are using their own selection or original scripts have to submit the text together with the video clip.)

Adjudication
1. Marking Criteria:
Effectiveness of Delivery (40%)
Quality of speech (projection, pronunciation, articulation, intonation, pace, etc.) (40%)
Visual effects (facial expression, gesture, costumes, props, masks, etc.)
Sound Effects (Music, songs, etc.) (20%)
2. The maximum length of each presentation in Category A is 5 minutes, and that in Category B is 8 minutes.
3. The decision of the adjudicators on all artistic matters shall be final.
